THE MENA DIGITAL SUMMER SCHOOL 2022
This is the report of the MENA Digital Summer School MENA DSS, which took place in summer/fall of 2022 and was hosted by the Candid Foundation
Structure
During several online sessions as well as an in-person series of events of over a week in Berlin, Bochum, and Wuppertal 27 students from the Middle East and North Africa deepened and enhanced their expertise in digital transformation
Topics
The students elaborated on different concepts related to digitalization, such as artificial intelligence, smart cities, design thinking and many other inspiring topics. They studied the various aspects of digitization in technology, society, media, law, culture, economy, environment, and the political sphere.

The MENA DSS was conducted with partners like Digital Arabia Network, the Einstein Centre Digital Future, the Centre for Advanced Internet Studies (CAIS), Circular Valley, FernUniversity in Hagen, Barenboim-Said Akademie, Atingi, and many others. The initiative was kindly funded by the government of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and supported by the German Federal Foreign Office.
Outlook
After a great experience with the MENA DSS 2022, we are looking forward to continue this initiative! In Fall 2023 the Candid Foundation will host the next Summer School.
